- A corridor or passageway in a home which is generally long and narrow with doors into rooms on both sides of it. However, an entrance area or foyer into which other rooms open may be also be referred to as a hall. In many cases a runner may be used at the entrance door or in a narrow space alongside the staircase.

 - For our purposes, a hallway runner project whether a simple straight length or a custom fabrication may be the hall at the top of the staircase where there are a number bedroom doors. While some refer to this area as a landing, again for our purposes - a landing is within the staircase whereas the area at the top of the staircase is generally a 2nd floor hallway.
